Sasha’s Residency at Fogo Island Arts

In September L. Sasha Gora followed the cod to Fogo, the largest of the offshore islands in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, where to say fish is to mean cod. As a recipient of Fogo Island Art's Labrador Current Foodways Residency, she spent six weeks learning how the islanders "make" fish and participated in two public talks as part of Shore Time: a biannual gathering that celebrates the interaction of art and design, economy and ecology, and, of course, foodways.
